Here’s my Dad leaning on one of his early sandblast rigs in 1943. He moved to Los Angles from a small town in Northern Minnesota in 1939 to work as a sandblaster and painter. After about a year or so, he bought his first rig and started on his own sandblasting and painting business. Over the course of 20 or so years, he got all of his brothers and brother-in-laws moved out from Minnesota to work with him. All 4 of his sons grew up in the business and all have had their own sandblasting and painting companies. Through the years since, we have close and extended family all over this country who are sandblasters and painters, most own their own business — All because my Dad wanted to be his own boss way back then.

Below is another of his “old timey” sandblast rigs.
